Ongar Road, Abridge
|
 |
• The proposed site is a poultry farm and would obtrusively
be within 25 metres of the owners dwelling. This would not
only decimate their livelihood but also their privacy, view
and enjoyment of where they live.
• Not meeting set Government criteria the proposed site
being within 150 metres of neighbouring listed buildings (notably
Blackboard Cottages and Grove Cottage).
• The location is on a dangerous bend and a known accident
spot at the Village Gateway. Drivers leaving the maximum speed
limit stretch of the Ongar Road recurrently do not sufficiently
slow down upon entering the 30 MPH zone and often break excessively
causing their vehicles to lose control.
• The health & safety risk is exacerbated by obscured
sight lines for egress and the fact that this stretch of the
Ongar Road is prone to flooding and freezing over and traffic
backing up.
• This in turn increases the risk to pedestrians in
particular the young and elderly who need to cross the busy
road to go to the Pre-School/ Playground, Community Centre
and Health Centre located opposite at Abridge Village Hall.
• The established hedgerow to the front boundary of
the site that obscures sight lines cannot be removed as this
would be against the policy to ensure that Gypsy & Traveller’s
encampments are kept inconspicuous.
• The proposal flies in the face of planning permission
being turned down for a mobile home on the same site, which
on appeal was upheld by the government inspector.
• The danger arising from ingress and egress was the
main objection to various planning applications in this vicinity
which on appeal were upheld by the government inspector.
