| About
the Abridge Action Group |
The Abridge Action Group
(AAG) was formed by a very concerned group of dedicated
local residents and councillors whose sole objective is to save
the village of Abridge from unsuitable Gypsy and Travellers
sites. We hold regular meetings and consult with experts to
ensure that we offer the best possible advice and guidance to
members of the community who share our aim.
We have carefully reviewed Epping
Forest District Council’s GYPSY & TRAVELLERS CONSULTATION
DOCUMENT which invites your feedback by completing
a questionnaire. We have drawn up suitable responses to their
non user friendly form and these are shown on our EXAMPLE
COMPLETED QUESTIONNAIRE as a guide to help you
answer the relevant questions correctly and thus enable you
to register your opposition to the proposed Gypsy & Travellers
sites for:
1. 52
Ongar Road, Abridge. (20 d)
2. Crowthers Nursery , Ongar Road, Abridge. (20 e)
|
Whilst the AAG
recognise the need for official Gypsy & Travellers sites
as an alternative to unauthorised encampments they consider
the above locations as totally unsuitable and has drawn up a
list of bona fide objections for 52 Ongar
Road and Crowthers Nursery
based on planning grounds and the governments own criteria for
the suitability of such sites.
We are hopeful that these objections, should result in the above
sites proving unsuitable, but are mindful that given the Government’s
directive for Local Authorities to find suitable sites in keeping
with the requirements of The East of England plan, alternative
locations within our community may be sought. To this end, we
are formulating contingencies for such an eventuality.
In the meantime however, it is imperative that every Abridge
business and resident aged 18 and over swamps Epping Forest
District Council (EFDC) with their completed questionnaire.
These and Multi-Response forms are available from EFDC by email:
ldfconsult@eppingforestdc.gov.uk,
by telephoning 01992 564517, or website: www.eppingforestdc.gov.uk.
We recommend that households and community groups
such as residents who live in a block of flats or cul- de- sac
etc complete one master questionnaire and submit it using a
multi-response
form signed by each eligible adult.
Failure
to return a completed questionnaire may be construed by
EFDC as a vote in favour of supporting the proposed sites.
Questions 5 & 6 must be answered otherwise your objection
will not be recorded. |
Closing date for submission of the completed forms has been
extended to
20th February 2009
